Volunteering at the Memphis Farmers Market is a fun, interactive way to give back to our community by supporting local farmers, producers and artisans while providing opportunities to educate market visitors about healthy eating habits, good nutrition, and the benefits of "eating fresh and local."
Volunteers are essential to successful MFM operations, events, and stellar customer service. We depend on our volunteers on so many levels to help provide the best market experience possible!
Whether you're interested in serving on one of our numerous committees or you'd rather roll up your sleeves, dig in the dirt, and plow into "fun on the farm" on market-day Saturdays, the Memphis Farmers Market has a spot for you!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
About 30 volunteers are needed every Market Saturday to run the market day's functions and carry out a variety of critical duties that include vendor check-in, pavilion patrol, market information table, market cafe, special events, and set-up and tear-down operations.

WHAT HAPPENS ONCE I JOIN THE VOLUNTEER DATABASE?
You'll receive a weekly "Call for Vols" email that lists the job slots and shifts available for the upcoming Saturday. If you can commit to volunteer that Saturday, "reply to" with your duty and shift preference.
If you can't volunteer, no problem! Just ignore the email, and you'll receive another "Call for Vols" the following week!
When you "reply to" with your duty and shift preference, you receive a confirmation email, as well as other detailed information to help you successfully fulfill your specific job responsibilities for that particular Saturday.

PREFER TO VOLUNTEER ON A COMMITTEE?
The market relies heavily on its numerous committees, planting them full of expertise with dedicated and hard-working volunteers. Committees include marketing, operations, vendors, entertainment, health and nutrition, fundraising, grant-writing, special events, and many more.
