Why We Need Your Support
As a nonprofit organization with the mission to serve as a community gathering place where local producers and artisans can offer fresh agricultural and related products, the Memphis Farmers Market relies on your support to meet and grow our goals:
Memphis Farmers Market Goals:
1. Improve the community's nutrition options
2. Assist area farmers, producers, and artisans with sustainable business opportunities
3. Generate a sense of local pride while furthering the economic development of our community
4. Provide a vehicle to educate the community on nutrition and good health.
The Memphis Farmers Market is a volunteer led, not-for-profit market that operates on a small budget that must support a large array of operating expenses that include insurance, permits, licenses, signage, utilities, site improvements, marketing, promotions, a part-time market manager, and more. We meet these needs through vendor fees, fundraising, foundation grants, sponsorships, and “Friend of MFM” donations. We utilize your financial support to implement our marketing, operations, site development, health education and community relations programs to achieve our mission goals.
The Memphis Farmers Market (MFM) is incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the State of Tennessee and has been designated as a federal 501(c)(4) organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations generally are not deductible as charitable donations, but they may be deductible as business expenses. Currently, the Memphis Center City Development Corporation (CCDC) serves as registered fiscal agent on behalf of the Memphis Farmers Market. The CCDC is an active 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
