MFM 2008 Entertainment Calendar

Each Memphis Farmers Market day will celebrate a theme. Our aim is to create a fun filled market day for the whole family. We invite you to come and enjoy the many activities we have planned for your market visits. See you at the market!

Memphis Farmers Market
2008 Entertainment Schedule

New this Season:

MFM Restaurant Board
The MFM plans to develop a local restaurant display board filled with information about area restaurants. The restaurant board will be a great place to check out local fare options by cruising menu’s, checking out daily specials and finding the hippest places in town that feature locally grown produce and fresh artisan baked goods. The MFM has been supported with some of Memphis’s top chef’s and now we want to give back to them. Check out the restaurant board next time you are at the Market.

Kids Pumpkin - 2008 MFM PUMPKIN GROWING CONTEST
Get your kids involved throughout the summer with the MFM Pumpkin Growing Contest. Bring your kids to the Market between April 19, 2008 and May 17, 2008 to get their very own Pumpkin growing kit. The kit will include instructions and everything needed to plant and grow a pumpkin. Bring the pumpkins back to the Market on October 25, 2008 and prizes will be awarded for the largest pumpkin and funniest shaped pumpkin.

Meet Your Vendor Opportunities -
Meeting your vendor will allow farmers and artisans to communicate up close and personal with customers attending the MFM on Saturday’s. Participating in this will allow market goers the opportunity to ask questions of the vendors and get a better understanding of what goes into the production of their product. It will also allow all involved to get to know each other on a more personal basis, therefore bring the community together and hopefully helping the Memphis Farmers Market grow to its full potential. Watch for these opportunities to show up on the weekly calendar as the vendors sign up.

Help the MFM continue to grow – Membership Drive

The MFM is a volunteer, not-for-profit market that works on a small budget that must support a large array of operating expenses that include insurance, permits, licenses, signage, utilities, site improvements, marketing, promotions, a part-time market manager, and more. We meet these needs through vendor fees, fundraising, market memberships, foundation grants, and sponsorships.
The Memphis Farmers Market’s Mission is to:
1. Improves the community's nutrition options with the highest quality seasonal, local produce
2. Assists and supports area producers with sustainable business opportunities
3. Generates a sense of local pride and furthers the economic development of the community
4. Provides a vehicle to educate the community on the importance of nutrition to good health

We are asking for your support in continuing a momentum that is steering Memphis toward healthier food choices and lifestyles.
