Cookbook

To celebrate the popularity of the downtown Memphis Farmer's Market, we are compiling a Memphis Farmer's Market cookbook. The cookbook will feature delicious, fresh and healthy recipes that use ingredients available at the Memphis Farmer's Market. We would like the cookbook to be representative of the Memphis community and invite recipe submissions from market shoppers, vendors, volunteers and local chefs.

Let the Market fresh ingredients inspire a new recipe creation or submit a tried and true favorite. If you are new to the area, please consider a favorite recipe from your home; we love to try new flavors! The cookbook will include soups, salads, appetizers, side dishes, main dishes, vegetarian dishes, desserts and beverages.

When choosing or creating your recipe submissions, consider the variety of items available at the market: Fresh leafy greens and herbs, tomatoes, corn, squash, beans and other legumes, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and apples. In addition to the fresh produce, we have two beef vendors, homemade cheese, freshly ground corn (cornmeal, grits and masa), honey, preserves, pecans and granola. Check the market every Saturday for new items and ideas as the season progresses.

All recipes will be tested. If possible, please submit your recipes in time for the cookbook recipe testers to utilize the same seasonal fresh ingredients in their testing. Feel free to submit as many recipes as you like! Recipe submissions will be accepted from May 26 through the end of October. Look for the new cookbook at the opening of the MFM 2008!

Recipe submission is easy:

  1. Complete the form below and click on Submit to enter your recipe online.
  2. While electronic submissions are preferred, you may also obtain a recipe submission form at the MFM information booth. The completed form can be turned in at the booth on market days or mailed to MFM Cookbook, 114 North Main, Memphis, TN 38103.
